Wildlife!!  

Today when we went to leave the house, we discovered a little deer in our yard!  He stayed there quite awhile eating leaves and wasn’t scared of us at all.  I got within about 10 feet of him, which was very cool!  This type of deer is called “black tailed deer” or “Sitka deer”.  We know it was a male because we could see little antlers beginning to grow in.

Then later today I decided to go for a run, so I went out on our road headed towards downtown.  On the way back, almost to our driveway, I heard something in the woods across the street.  I stopped and looked thinking it might be a deer again, but it was  HUGE black bear!!  I was pretty scared, but I knew that you’re not supposed to run from bears, so I just walked until I was closer to the car and then SPRINTED.  Of, course the bear never moved, haha.  James got all excited when I got back and told him about the bear, so he had to run up and see.
